Founders of the Empire: Tombs of Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi
Perched on the historic Tophane ramparts over the site of the Byzantine Saint Elias Monastery, these tombs represent the spiritual genesis of the Ottoman Empire. Reconstructed in 1863 by Sultan Abdülaziz following the devastating 1855 earthquake, the mausoleums honor Osman Gazi (founder) and Orhan Gazi (conqueror of Bursa).
